Painted in 1978
Two years earlier I had painted the front of San Francisco de Quito and it had been really difficult to see the church with the crowds. It was difficult to find somewhere to sit in Quito where I wasn’t overwhelmed by crowds of people. Inside the Cloister of San Francisco de Quito was a beautiful place to paint as I only had the monks walking around me, which made it very peaceful.
